At approximately 07:00 hours on Sunday, Delmar Fire Dept responded for an Emergency Medical Service call. The patient required transport to specialty care center in Washington DC.. Engine 74-1, EMS 74 and Command 74 also responded to assist with patient care and to set up a landing zone for a helicopter. The patient need care at George Washington Hospital and air transport was the safest and fastest option. Maryland State Police Trooper 4 responded and handled the transport. Units operated for around 90 minutes while assessing and carefully transferring the patient into the ground ambulance, then the landing zone, securing a helicopter landing site, medical consultations and coordinating aviation assets. Paramedic B-74 brought the patient to the landing zone to meet Trooper 4 and transfer the patient. MSP Trooper 4 transported the patient to George Washington University Hospital.
