Just prior to 1930 hours on May 18th, Sussex EOC received many calls reporting a house on fire on E. Grove Street in the town of Delmar. Fire Box 74-1 was dropped bringing stations 74 (Delmar), 81(Laurel), 5 (Hebron) 2 and 16(Salisbury). Command 74 arrived on scene with fire showing from all visible sides. 74-18 (Johnson) assumed the Grove Street command. Station 71(Blades) had a staffed unit and requested to run the box and were granted. Engine 74-3 layed a 5 inch supply line and stretched 2 inch and 3/4 lines, one protecting the Delta side exposure and the other fire attack. Engine 16 pulled a 3rd line and also assisted with fire attack. Truck 2 flowed water from the ladder to extinguish the bulk of the fire on the second floor. All other units on scene assisted with fire attack, search, and overhaul. Units operated on scene approximately 3 hours.
