April 19, 2023. Wicomico Fire Box 74-3, natural cover fire upgraded to structure fire with exposures. Delmar 74 Command arrived on-scene of a reported natural cover fire and found a well involved woods fire that had extended into 3 smaller garage/sheds. Command upgraded the assignment to a full 1st Alarm. Brush 74-0 and Engine 74-1 arrived and stretched a forestry line and a 1 3/4" hand line. Engine-Tanker 74-2 arrived and supplied those units.
Salisbury Truck 1 was diverted from another natural cover fire in Salisbury to Delmar's incident and pulled their front bumper line. Salisbury Engine-Tanker 1-1 and Hebron Engine-Tanker 5 arrived on-scene and supplied Truck 1. Salisbury Engine 2, Parsonsburg Engine 605 and Laurel Engine 81-4 also responded to the scene providing additional manpower. Units operated at this incident for approximately 90 minutes. Delmar Paramedic A-74 provided EMS stand-by at the scene. Mardela Springs Engine-Tanker 904 responded to Delmar to provide a fire stand-by.
While units were handling this incident in Maryland, an additional incident was dispatched in Delaware. That call was for a Motor Vehicle Collision at the intersection of Delmar Road & Susan Beach Road. Paramedic A-74 cleared the fire scene and responded to the MVC. Mardela Springs ET-904 came upon the MVC on their way to Delmar and stopped to assist. Parsonburg Engine 605 was also released from the fire scene to respond to the MVC. Units found a 2 vehicle collision at the intersection. All subjects declined medical care or treatment. Parsonsburg Engine 605 then went to Delmar fire station for fire stand-by coverage until all incidents were under control.
