At approximately 8pm on Monday evening, December 12, a patient suffering a traumatic injury was brought to the front pad of the fire station in Delmar by private vehicle. After assessment by EMS duty crews it was determined the patient would be transported by helicopter to a trauma center. Firefighters responded to assist EMS with stabilizing the patient then removing the patient from the vehicle and into an ambulance. Firefighters then staffed Truck 74 to respond to a landing zone. Truck 74 and Delmar Police set up the landing zone in a vacant lot next to the Hardee's on US-13. The patient was transported by Paramedic B-74 to the landing zone and transferred to Maryland State Police Trooper 4 helicopter for transport to UMD-Shock/Trauma in Baltimore.
