Commercial building fire on Bi-State Boulevard
Sunday, July 24, 2022

On Sunday, July 24th at 1440 hrs, Delmar Station 74 was alerted for an Appliance Fire at the Local Laundromat on BI State Blvd. Engine Tanker 74-2 arrived on location with smoke showing out the front and upgraded the call to a Fire Box along with the Working Fire Dispatch. 74-2 stretched an 1 3/4 inch line and found fire in the rear of the Laundromat being fed by a large chicken house fan which is used to keep the patrons of the Laundromat cool. Truck 2 arrived and opened vents on the roof to release some of the smoke as well as checked for extension in the adjacent convience store. Smoke has been removed from both structures. The Fire Marshall is on location and will let the building owners know when they can return to operations.
Note: It may seem like an over abundance of equipment responding however there is an extra company on all fires due to the heat index being above 90 degrees. Also if you live in the Town of Delmar you may see many hydrants covered. They are currently out of service. Delmar will be responding its Engine Tanker (3000 gallons of water) in town until the hydrant situation is rectified.
