Busy June 1st for Delmar includes MVC with fly-out
Thursday, June 1, 2017

June 1st was another very busy day for Delmar Fire Dept. In addition to several medical calls, DFD responded to assist Salisbury with a reported fire in a hotel and ran two first-due motor vehicle collisions. Engine-Tanker 74-2 was cancelled enroute to the fire.

The first MVC was very serious and required extrication and medevac fly-out. That accident was on Bi-State Blvd near Jackson Street north of town and involved a single vehicle into a tree. 3 high priority patients were transported after an extended extrication due to heavy entrapment. All hydraulic tools were in service from Rescue 74. Paramedic B-74, Laurel A-81 with Sussex Medic 102 aboard and Delaware State Police Medevac Trooper 2 helicopter each transported a patient to PRMC. Laurel Engine 81-4 also responded to the scene to assist.

The second MVC occurred less than an hour later at Line Road and Old Stage Road and involved two vehicles in the intersection. After dropping off patient's from the first MVC, both B-74 and A-81 responded from PRMC to this accident and each transported a patient.

Thanks to Laurel Fire Dept, Sussex County EMS and Delaware State Troopers for their assistance today. Thank you to the citizens who shared these on-scene photos with us.
